In this project I explore textile traditions and the collaborative act of working with fabrics as a form of spiritual care and collective therapy. During several weeks, I invited participants to join a workshop every Thursday, where they collectively mended a broken white cloth. This workshop became the inspiration for the installation.
I view the act of mending as both a ritualistic and spiritual process that fosters sensitivity and interpersonal communication. Through communal mending, the space becomes one of exchange and reflection, allowing participants to share their thoughts and feelings. The white thread on the white fabric symbolizes the often invisible nature of care work, made tangible through collective action. The piece reflects the significance of communal care and explores how the tradition of mending can find its place in the modern world.
